SFI Awardee Dr S S Kapoor awarded OBE for services to community relations.

Dr Kapoor is Vice Chancellor at the World Sikh University and has studied at the Universities of Punjab, Agra, Glasgow and London. He has a passion for both learning and teaching.In this early career he was professor and head of Accounting at SGTB Khalsa College Delhi and Principal Lecturer in Accounting at London Guildhall University. Later he became a Guest Professor of Sikhism at FVG Antwerp Belgium. Dr Kapoor is also the Principal Director at Khalsa College London. He has written, to date, 48 books of which 42 are on various aspects of Sikhism, one on Economic theory, one on Business Administration, one on Accounting Practice and three on Punjabi poetry. His regular articles have appeared in many English and Panjabi magazines, and he has to his credit many hundred such articles.

Dr K T S Lalvani awarded OBE for services to the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr Lalvani is the co-founder and current President of Vitabiotics, one of the world's leading pharmaceutical organisations. In 1982, Dr Lalvani founded Meyer Organics in India which is also a market leader in the field of pharmaceutical products. He is a former research scientist at the University of Bonn and is a past winner of AsianWoman's 'Business Man of the Year Award'.

Ms Baljit Ubhey awarded OBE for services to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Baljit Ubhey is the Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames Valley and Chair of CPS Thames and Chiltern, and has also taken a leading role in many high profile aspects of law, including fraud and high tech crime. Ms Ubhey graduated from the London School of Economics and obtained an LLM Masters Degree at University College London. She joined CPS Hertfordshire as a trainee solicitor in 1992 and became Chief Crown Prosecutor in 2005. Ms Ubhey has also helped to set up a charity called Liveline, which provides counselling and support to children and young people in East London, and has also served on the management committee for Newham Asian Women's Project.

Mrs I K Sandhu awarded OBE for services to education.

Mrs Inderjit Kaur Sandhu is the Headteacher at Launde Primary School in Leicestershire. She has spent the last five years helping head teachers of schools in Leicester and Loughborough to improve by passing on top tips used in her own school. Launde Primary School, graded outstanding by Ofsted during their 2007 inspection and teaches 487 children between the ages of four and 11.

Mr D S Ahluwalia awarded MBE for community and interfaith relations.

Daljit Singh Ahluwalia has been a vocal presence in Derbyshire and the neighbouring regions through his work in fostering greater community cohesion amongst local residents.
